Head gasket job done incorrectly

    The HG's are the same. The block is essentially identical between the 2.5/2.7

    Is it possible your exhaust manifold gaskets are new and the smoke you see is just the gaskets breaking in?? Just a thought. Also you made sure the heads (2) alignment dowels were used and the head was sitting flush with the hg/block?

      It's possible that your block may be cracked, however, unlikely. Did the car overheat before you pulled the head?

        This would be a dumb answer, but it could just be a coolant cook-off from the exhaust manifolds. I got coolant everywhere when I did my HG. Took it for a drive, and there was smoke billowing everywhere.

          ^. Yes. False alarm. I sprayed brake clean under the exhaust and run it 10min and no more smoke. Hopefully things will held up for the extra 10deg I put into the head bolts.
