So i know a lot of people say a ticking engine is a happy engine or somewhere along those lines and i get that but as of recenetly after a spiritied drive through the Berkley hills there has been a loud knock that shows up around 3000 rpm and up. Went to check the valve clearance and noticed that some rocker arms when the cam lobe is TDC that there is a gap between the two and with your hand can be made to click. I guess my question is could the sound be the rocker arm slapping against the cam lobe durning rotation? i dont know much about cars so this is baffling me haha thanks guys:bow:
Noob here need help with ticking

Definitely do a valve adjustment first (.010 gap between the valve stem and rocker for intake/exhaust). A slight tick is okay, but you shouldn't hear it at high rpm. A knock is a totally different problem and usually requires a good bit of money to make it go away (rebuild).1989 325i Lachssilber Sedan
