engine harness "tray" and routing of wiring

Slowly trina put my motor back together.

All the tricky bits are done (new gaskets and hoses everywhere, lots of new sensors, etc) but I'm wondering how the engine wiring harness is routed through this bracket/tray:

I think I have it oriented correctly in the photo above. It was pretty ugly so I decided to pull it out and re-finish it. One of the PO's had obviously removed it at one point as well and it was only attached (to what?) with one bolt. I'd like to re-attach this correctly.

Can someone please describe how the engine harness is supposed to route through this bracket, relative to the coolant hose that runs through this same area? I tried a few different positions and none of them seemed right to me.

mine is 180 degrees from what you have here. But who knows if that's right.

Would you mind shooting a quick photo and posting it here?

I believe that orientation is correct. The engine harness is zip tied to that bracket. At least that is how it is on mine. It might have special clamps for the harness.

Check out realoem.com, it will clear things up for you

Based off the pic, turn it around so that the part your index finger is on points towards you, then, mount it to the stud just to the left of your index finger on the intake manifold, there is another stud like that towards the firewall as well

RealOEM shows the part...but not how its mounted/attached (number 10 below, obviously). But the diagram probably DOES show proper orientation, so I guess that's helpful. Thanks Greg!

OK..now we're getting somewhere. So the harness sheath sits in that tray...and is held in place by ties. Where does the coolant hose (with the T in it) route relative to the bracket and engine harness?

If anyone has photos showing the piece installed that would be awesome. I really could find NOTHING on the Internet.

Bumping this thread, does the dipstick mount go behind or in front of the engine harness bracket? Looks like it's behind in the pic.

325i in a 90 vert here. Maybe mine is wrong, but dipstick tube isn’t attached to anything. It has a bracket on it with a wire holding clip that holds alternator wire. Could have been done wrong somewhere in the past too. Are dip stick tune brackets supposed to be sandwiched in the front side but of this bracket?
