What tempature is your m20 running at?

My gauge is showing that the car only gets up to a quarter which seems pretty cold to me when most cars usally run at half? Is that bad good or just a gauge being stupid

It's your temperature gauge, it's not working properly. Check the nut on the back or swap in another one.

If that doesn't work, replace your thermostat.

There are 71*, 75*, 80* (most common). I use a 71 and it runs at the first mark.

Living in PA is going to be tough in the winter time with your current t-stat. I would suggest that you replace it with a 80C stat. It will take longer to heat up the car with a 70C stat. Your car will not be efficient running that cold, but it will not cause any damage.

Actually a 70 and 80 will warm up at exactly the same pace since the engine doesnt know or care what the set point is of a closed tstat. The 70 will just open a bit sooner.

The M20 should have an 80
