Any word? I still haven't got my car back from paint, but am anxious to know how this chip works out.

      2.7i

hey sorry yea i got the swap together and am using the stage 2 euro tuner chip on a 525 ecu tuned to stock injectors (i had cleaned and flowed already so whatever). i havent compared it to stock chip but i am very happy with the performance of it currently. plus the idle is super smooth, i expected pretty rough idle out of the lower compression motor but its pretty great. i guess i can try the stock chip and see how it works compared but i wont be able to post any dyno numbers or results.

Probably a bad time to make a first post but i had a chip from them. Lured in by the shiney website.

        Car is a 1986 325E

Didnt notice much of a power difference. Did notice a terrible surging during part throttle acceleration. Unplugging the o2 sensor cured it at the expense of fuel mileage.

Within 2 weeks the car would randomly die sometimes it would start back up sometimes you it needed to sit around a bit. This got worse and worse with the car coming home on a trailer twice. The last time it would start and run for a second or 2 before dying. During trouble shooting i noticed the ecu was very hot. On a hunch i swapped the stock chip back in and all was well. Plugged the o2 sensor back in even with no issues.

        Just food for thought.

A chip will bring problems that weren't apparent before to light I went through that on my eta before I did the head swap to a 2.7i setup

Awesome! Glad to hear it. I would love to know how it compared to the stock chip, but a smooth idle and taking advantage of 91 octane was really my main concern.

That is very odd. It more than likely could be a bad chip, rather than a bad tune. Did you follow up with eurotuning? Would they replace the chip?

Long overdue update... Before my e30 came back from paint I bought a second one with a bad cam for my GF, so I swapped in the head I had rebuilt for my 2.7i build. She's now got a schwartz 325i 4 door with red leather interior on ST springs. It is a great car, and although it lacks the low end grunt of an eta, it is a great car.

But don't worry... my project isn't over. I just received an update from Bimmerheads... my rebuilt, shaved, and 274 cam'ed 885 head with adjustable cam gear is in the mail and should arrive next week. I've got a motronic 1.3 setup, wideband o2 and Chariot Gauge, KAMotors intake, German Engineering intake boot, complete i exhaust with ss catback, 17lb m50 injectors, i oil cooler, mishimoto radiator, and all new hardware all ready to go.

Every part I ordered (except the exhaust) came from a forum member or sponsor. I love being able to support the r3v and e30 community. Seriously. So many great people putting out fantastic products.

Even now, with the eta with a chip, intake, i exhaust, and 3.25 lsd this car drives well. I cannot wait to see the added power of the 885 head and bimmerheads regrind cam. I am going to start tearing apart the eta this saturday, and try to have it ready to drop in the bimmerheads head as soon as it arrives.

nice! yea i slipped a tooth on my timing belt and ended up bending some valves so im looking for another head to put on it and while the heads off i will put a new clutch and TOB in (supposedly its alot easier to reach the top bolts on the transmission with the head off, il let you know how that works out) but still ran the Eurotuning chip with no issues, i did get a 3.73lsd in but havent driven it yet. the 2.93lsd i could shift out of 2nd at 70mph. clutch is in the mail. although im still using the eta exhaust tho unfortunately.

You can actually reuse the pin without issue since all it does it locate the spring. I'd def use a fresh spring though for the $1-2 it costs

^ well said. unfortunately this is my first m20 and when i got around to replacing the timing belt after a head swap there was no pin or spring (i presume previous owner had something to do with this, or a shop) and made a judgement call that we would just "tension it ourselves" lasted a few autox and quite a bit of high reving over 7k miles but i wont make that mistake again.

If you do a WP change without doing the belt it's a pita to position the pump against the spring so it's easier to just leave it out since it serves no purpose at that point. The problem is when you do change the next belt and there are parts missing...as you well know

yea i think i will always make sure i have it now, no matter what, it never even crossed my mind that the only thing that was holding tension on the tensioner was how tight i made the adjustment bolt, and to me, thats not very comforting

It's been said that the spring provides some peace of mind as a backup ( not saying I buy that) so yes it makes sense to leave it there. This is another good reason why you change the WP when you do the belt (or at least every other belt).

I've also never heard of a failure due to a loose tensioner bolt...if that helps you sleep any better :)
