89 325i Looking to modify maybe stroker? or m50?

Havent had the car long. engine seems "tired" Trans Shifts straight. however always does seem like its " jamming in to gear" by jamming i mean being forced in? if that makes any sense...

Anyways looking to fresh up to reliable dd status with a bit more power response with out spending too much. any suggestions?

What do i need to create a 2.7i stroker? or should i moves o m50 non vanos or?

as stated im not looking for the cheapest way as to i do not want to compromise reliability for peroformance or vice versa

include links to parts plz or anything else deem helpful:):p

A 2.7i won't be that much more powerful than a good running m20b25 so I would say a 24v swap because you can get stock motor reliability out of it and better gas mileage too without breaking the bank plus the. U can use a zf trans and get rid of your jamming into gear problem at the same time

It depends on whether you want to build an m20 or not. You can't just go buy a big m20 stroker at your local junk yard. A bigger m20 can make good power. Search for people's dyno results. I think the comments about 2.7i motors not making much power are referring to eta motors with the stock i head swap, not a high compression cammed 2.7.

a high compression cammed 2.7L is a good thing but will cost more than 99% of people want to to pay. there is no cheap NA hp in the M20.
