    No oil cooler

Has anyone here just deleted their oil cooler and blocked off the ports? If so did you experience low oil pressure? I deleted my cooler and blocked the ports. After that my oil was ~12psi no matter what my rpm was. I think it may just be the gauge, but ive thought that maybe my relief valve was opening?

The right way to delete the oil cooler is to replace the oil filter adapter with a spud allowing the filter to mount directly to the block. I've thought about what might happen from blocking off the oil cooler ports ith thermostat in the adapter is stuck open, but I suspect that would badly affect oil pressure.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

You could try places that service hydraulic systems, see if they can press new soft hoses onto your fittings. Place near me couldn't, they only had standard sized tools, nothing metric.
        Or call/email Blunt.

You feeling okay digger? With your intelligence in regards to motors I would assume that you could probably just close your eyes and make one appear! hahaha But, yeah I would think that blunt could probably get a better deal than $200 for both.

And on a side note, it's a good thing that a friend of mine didn't check out a car not to long ago that had a busted oil cooler... I didn't realize that the spud wouldn't be in the block, and I told him to just take off the oil cooler and slap a filter on...

This is my current setup I am only doing it this way because I had the parts lying about and I wanted to check the oil temperature, using the sensor located in the filter head bolt. I'm checking oil pressure using an adaptor off the standard pressure location.

Like jlevie, I was also concerned about plugging the cooler ports, but I reasened it the other way round. When the engine is cold the oil thermostat is closed, no oil flows thru the port and theres no problem. With the engine hot and the thermostat open with the port plugged, no oil flows thru the port, so theres still no problem. I may be wrong however!

My oil pressure shows 4.5 Bar when cold, which is expected as that is apparantly the oil bypass valve setting. When the engine is hot after half hours driving then the gauge sits at one Bar at idle and about three Bar at 3000rpm. Does anyone know what to expect?

jc where is your oil pressure sensor fitted?

It used to be where yours is, teed off of the stock pressure switch. Thats when it read low. I have a filter relocation kit and now have my oil feed, oil temp. and oil pressure installed in a filter sandwich. Forgot to mention that im turbo. My stupid ass manifold interferes with everything.
But i recently installed an oil cooler but havent gotten to see if it fixed my oil pressure problem because i have a few major leaks.

yeah, was hoping someone knew of an alternative place that i could simply order online using a webshop. i hate having to email and maybe getting a reply, or maybe not getting one.

I have a sandwich plate coming together with some adaptors so that I can try fitting the temperature and pressure sensors there. I'm not convinced that the temperature sensor works too well tapped into the big bolt. When I have removed the temp sensor in its current location, there doesnt seem to be much oil there. Its almost as though the system needs burping. Anyway I will report back when I have fitted the sandwich plate.

I realise after finding this http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=108865
that blocking the oil cooler outlet port wont work. When the oil temperature thermostat opens, it also closes any flow to the oil FILTER (edit, not cooler) port, in fact there is no flow anywhere and as jlevie surmised that there may be a problem!

This fits with my observations of a dry temperatur sensor and little oil in the filter. So in the short term I have removed the oil thermostat. The temperature gauge now seems to read a bit higher. Its hard to get a sensible reading on these Audi 60-170C gauges.
