Bubbles in oil usually means either your relief valve is stuck or you put way too much oil in.

There's a oil pressure relief valve incase your filter gets clogged for some reason it will bypass it to continue on once a certain pressure level is reached.

Im curious how you can tell there are bubbles in the oil. Are they sticking to the dipstick or did you put a webcam in the oil pan :-)

A head gasket could cause either of your symptoms but Id say its unlikely to cause both and not cause oil & water to mix so you may have 2 issues.

bubbles on the dipstick and the coolant is either leaking or burning as it keeps going down

Worst case scenarios could be head gasket or cracked head. In my experience a cracked head can usually be identified simply by looking at the inside of the oil filler cap or wipe your finger inside the valve cover, if it's milky, your head if probably cracked. If it's a head gasket, you can pull/check your spark plugs one by one and that will unofficially tell you which cylinder is the culprit. The spark plug of the offending cylinder will usually be darker or even have coolant residue on it but can be harder to tell if your car is already burning oil...

It's in the oil filter housing/adapter for those of you that have factory oil coolers.
