The IAT does affect timing, so...
but not during startup, cranking advance is a fixed value.

so, the question is - are you getting fuel pressure during cranking? is the CLT sensor working?
The sensor by the thermostat or on the radiator?

I was attempting to address the issue in the video. Looked like good pressure in the video. So starting hot could be another issue. But, the engine loaded up after running is possible. You have two sensors?

Looks like the restart issue is based off a warm engine.

Nando, could you confirm the sensor you mentioned? Not familiar with the CLT name.

coolant. the one by the thermostat (usually blue). the thing in the radiator is a coolant temp switch for the electric fan.

Cool, after dinner its time to simulate an open and closed signal and see what happens. Thanks!

Unplugged the coolant temp sensor and that made the idle insanely low and loopy. Tried to jumper the connector but no change. Plugged it back on the sensor and it was back to it's original idle.

Yeah, did not think it was a coolant temp sensor. What's coming out the tailpipe? Is it overly rich?

It seems a bit rich but nothing outstanding. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to check the distributor and rotor though....curious about spark intensity as well.

Decided to try to tackle the tach issue with no luck of course. Waste of a damn day!

Sitting in the airport right now, would love some other things to get my brother to try to test pr at least get his mechanic to pick up where I left off.

My brother got his hands on another AFM and 173 ECU but I'm sure he hasn't gotten around to trying them out. Unfortunately the sensor housing on the afm is cracked and not too sure it's a complete working unit. As soon as I can bother him enough to get his car to run properly I'll update!

The next thing would be to check all the electrical (cap, rotor, grounds, plugs, yadda yadda) but I think he's going to take it to a shop to have them throw a couple hours into it.
