How to tighten crankshaft bolt on m20b25 w/o $50 tool.

So, I accidentally loosened the crankshaft bolt after I adjusted my valves. Left the wrench on there and turned on the car without knowing. Now every time I turn on my car while cold it makes a chirping sound, but goes away warm. So, does anyone have any special ways to tighten the bolt without purchasing the $50 tool from PelicanAuto?
    Thanks.

Ha! Nice. I'm going to fab up something as well. I'm building an engine and don't like the idea of sticking a block of wood into the crank...

may be problem if engine is still in car due to clearance issues.

I used a decent sized, maybe 12-15 inch chain wrench, torque wrench and some red loctite to get it over 200 easily. good enough for me though.

made the same mistake you did.

LOL Eric, was not expecting that.

That $50 tool really really makes things easier, especially if you have multiple BMW's.

We made same thing at shop out of a piece of flat iron bar. Works great. No BMW tool needed.

I was also reading that Harbor Freight has a tool like the this.
Haven't checked, just what I heard.

If the car is a 5 speed just leave the car in gear (5th gear) wheels on the ground. I've removed and tightened crank bolts that way plenty of times. If its an Auto you'll either need a counter holding tool or impact gun

I was going to suggest park... I'm a bit tired.

There is usually a place where you can stick a flathead screw driver on the flexplate, and hold it that way. It is a little hard to hold the rotating assembly in an auto.
