    worth the efforts

    Hello all.

I have a 88 super ETA. I have focused on my cars maintenance and looks. I haven't really done anything to help the performance for the M20 really.

    the car came with
1.1 motronic,153 dme, eta cam, springs, throttle body, intake manifold and 885 head stock. I have read it has a lower compression ratio

I was wondering if it was worth the work to install IS cam, springs, intake manifold, throttle body, 1.3 motronic wiring and 173 DME.

This is my daily it has lots of torque and very FUN TO DRIVE. but more power would be fun. Im not really planning on boosting it.

    thoughts? feed back?

    anyone done this to seta?

you should already have all of the i/is head stuff. If you truly have a 325es, and not just the sticker, they came with the regular eta 2.7l bottom end and the i/is 885 head. what made it special from any other etas is that the head is from an i, so you have a higher revlimiter and more power than a regular eta.

...i would suggest boost or an engine swap.

I have a 5300 rev limiter. and I have checked I have 885 casting head.

I have read I have an eta cam and springs intake manifold and TB... . I don't know how to confirm this.

I really don't want boost. want a simple street car that I daily.

yes, there are gains but i dont feel like searching for the dyno numbers.
it can be done for about 1k so for the money it's a really good swap. it pulls a little harder than a b25 engine. but to be honest i couldnt tell the difference when riding in the swapped cars because all the other chassis modifications that the guys had done.

                not possible.

get the BMW head gasket and bolts. new water pump. new timing belt. new hoses, new fuel line. new gaskets. bmw coolant. oil cooler.

and how many miles are on the lower? you many need to rebuild that. bc that will make more of a difference than upgrading, if you have more than 250k-mi

not pulling the head just replacing the intake, tb, cam, springs , wiring and DME.

new water pump /timing belt hoses /(every bit of the fuel system replaced /lots of maintenance work has gone into this car already

                  Please READ my build thread...

I will do the valve stem seals when I have the springs off. the bottom end is good have awesome compression. but unknown mileage

did some readying, looks like you are more of a whore for wheels than i am. lol
ah so you are gonna pull all of it while you have a compressor in holding the valves up.
how do you plan to get the cam out with the engine still in the bay?

after refreshing 7 M20s idk if i would go this route but budgets dictate what you can and cannot do

i would pull the head and refresh it, that alone improves things

I'm not trying to make a big project out of this..

that is money out in parts and this is my only daily right now wife wouldn't like if I took it off the road for no real reason.

I don't understand? maybe I'm in over my head. (no pun intended) why can the cam be pull while the motors in the car?

maybe you can get it out by taking the front out. but that would be a lot of work

yes air holding up the valves.

not really wanting to call this a refresh just a update. a refresh will be later on.

I don't understand why ths cam coming out is so hard? i guess im s noob and will find out.
