    87 vs88is head

Is there a difference between a 87 and 88is 1-705-885 head? Are they same spec, valves, rockers etc

I had a similar question. I pulled an 885 head today from an 88 convertible. Isn't there a difference with the 88 engines? Whats a Super ETA? Just a question...

88 super-eta had single valve springs and an eta cam within the 885 casting.

Vert/coupe/sedan heads from 'i' cars are the same.

So if I pulled that head of an 88 325i Cabrio, would it have a SETA head and how can I tell if it is. Also, what do I gain by having this type of head on my car?

only 88 es and 528e's came with the seta head all b25 heads are the same unless u found an AMC head which is just as rare as an seta head

An 'i' car isn't going to have a super-eta head unless something weird is going on. It's not really complicated; 'e' vs 'i'

I know the difference between the "e" and "i" cars and engines. I just had questions about the SETA as I know very little about that engine since I have never owned an "e" car. Anywho, thanks for the insight, I guess my head is a regular 885 casting head. Cool....

AMC isn't rare, it's just an aftermarket head casting. Some say they are OK others say they are shit (core shift or something).

Super-eta is an 885 casting with eta internals. In other words, an eta cam and single valve springs as opposed to dual. All cars marked 325i/s have the same head whether vert/coupe/sedan.

You can swap in dual valve spring and an 'i' cam, but that's more work than just finding an 'i' head.

Just for the record, the seta cam is different from the eta cam - seta has 7 bearing journals, eta has 4, as well as the lobes being different.

Trying to keep the answers simple here, but duly noted.
