    Replaced Tbelt, valves tick louder

Hey guys, wondering if I replaced my timing belt and put the right tension on it, I had the motor out and the entire front of the motor apart replacing the lower crank case gasket, so I threw in a new Tbelt and water pump, put the engine to TDC and matched the timing marks on the dot. Pretty sure I tightened the tensioner the right way. For some reason the engine ticks louder than it did before. I've owned an m20 for years and I know what loud valve noise is, but it just seems too loud. Any ideas? Could a some what lose or over tightened Tbelt affect that noise or no? Help me out here

I don't think so? When was your last valve adjustment?

Nope to your question. If you cant remember the last valve adjustment then it's due.
The only thing I can think of is if the timing is off the valves could kiss the pistons. (doubt it)

The timing belt can't make the valves tick any differently.
