    Oil Pan Gasket Help.

Ok so finally I can start to DD my E30 (thank god for spring!;D). The annoying part is leaving some form of oil or fluid everywhere I park. So far I did rear main seal, power steering lines/ reservoir, valve cover gasket, and obviously oil change/ filter and the diff is bone dry. Problem is, I still leak oil from mainly the oil pan. I know its never going to be leak free but I need some help doing the oil pan gasket because that's where it is mainly coming from. Any tips/ advice? I'm going to do the process of lifting the engine instead of dropping subframe.
    Thanks!

We always use a paper gasket (not cork) with a nice coat of a product called Gasgacinch.

There's no reason your e30 can't be leak free. It's German not British.

I just did this a few weeks ago.
-raise the engine enough to get the oil pan out.
        -buy some anaerobic gasket maker
-clean up pan and block surfaces.
        -apply anaerobic gasket and reinstall

Anaerobic gasket cures in the absence of air. I've been using it for a few years now in placement of POS cork and paper gaskets.

Go to your bmw dealership and get a tube of hylomar. Itll leak through the aluminum before it leaks through that.

Would hondabond work in this case as well for the oil pan? I don't see why not, anyone disagree?

sorry to revive such an old thread but why do you have to jack the engine up? is it just to get clearance to get the bolts out?

From my reading and understanding, the subframe is in the way. Either the subframe comes out or the motor can be lifted just enough to make removal of the pan possible.

I purchased the MTC paper oil pan gasket along with some hondabond off of amazon.

Edit: Literally everyone is out of stock for the MTC gasket. Guess I gotta go rubberized cork oem...

Yes. Otherwise you a). won't be able to get the oil pan out past the oil pump and oil pressure sensor and b). won't be able to scrape the old gasket off above the subframe

I have used Permatex "The Right Stuff" on dozens over the years, zero leaks. Just a small bead smeared flat. You can put the item in service immediately, no cure time.
