Oil Supply Tube Gaskets? Rocker arm shafts?

I need information regarding the oil squirter that runs on top/above the 885 head. Not the fat tube that runs down to the block from the intake.

When I pulled it out a few months ago for a complete rebuild, I don't remember there being gaskets/seals under the two 8mm bolts. But I have a Haynes manual that says to replace the seals. I got a hold of a Bentley manual but it doesn't mention seals. I bought a "complete" gasket kit, and there's only 1 tiny rubber o-ring seal that could fit there. That kit has a bunch of things and no list of where things go, but that's a separate complaint.

So am I missing a seal from the kit? Or does this oil tube not need any seals?

Next question: I'm fairly confident I reinstalled the rocker arm shafts in the correct orientation, but I'd like confirmation. The head itself has many holes drilled through the shaft housing. These holes are clearly visible with the valve cover removed. The rocker shaft has holes in it too, I presume to lubricate the rockers.

When I reinstalled the shafts, I noticed I don't see through those holes in the head; I don't see through it and the rocker shafts. Is this correct? I have all the rockers and clips on. But it seems weird to me that those holes are there on the head but they don't go through the shaft.

Picture of head for your convenience

    Thanks for the help!

Aren't the fittings on the end of the tube flare fittings like a brake line? If so, no seal is needed.

They just screw into the head. I use a little loctite on them too as I've seen a couple come loose. If the additional holes you are talking about are the ones just above the shaft on the inlet valve side, near where the head bolts pass through, those are there for lubricating the camshaft.

The shafts themselves have notches in them for the locks, so as long as you have them set in the groove, you should have put it back together ok.

          Yes, precisely.

So I have one tiny o-ring in this kit and no idea where it goes.

          Thanks guys!
