I had a 1984 533i with everything original that I sold at 511,000 miles. No bullshit. It ran fine but everything else was going -- suspension, clutch, exhaust, etc.

    I also had a 1982 e21 323i from Germany that I sold at 395,000 miles. All original.

lets just put it this way - the car will last long, long after the odometer breaks at or near 250k miles. that's like popping your E30 cherry - you haven't really owned an E30 unless at least one has a broken ODO.

I had the 533i for 6 years. I bought it with 233,000. The rest I put on.

            The e21 I bought a 195,000. The rest I put on.

E30 ODOs seem to blow up way easier than any other model I've owned. I think I'm on my 4th one now. lol. Miles? No idea. I bet the chassis has well over 300,000 though.

the plastic they are made of is really soft. they literally turn into a sponge like material at around the 250k mark. it's like they made them out of stale oreo cookies or something.

No bs, just for a fact that you seen or know!
I have 507,000 miles on my unopened original engine right now. Valve stem seals leak oil on engine breaking and that's about it for engine health. Still pulls nicely. Still solid framewise, but rust is getting bad on the panels.

I've had it for 260k of them miles, and I drive her haaaarrrrdddd.

my DD has more than 250k on it and all I do is change the oil every 3k miles and when something aux break I just replace it. I haven't even replaced the cap and rotor, I want my engine to die so I can part it out but it just won't fucking die. it's a m20b27 never been cracked open.

My odo has 276k but was broken for teen years before I bought it so it is coming up on an estimated 400k. I swapped the head last summer just because it ticked loudly so I assumed it was pretty worn. I'm about to do the head gasket again but I think that was my fault...

Bought with a broken odometer at 178k, now its at 182, since i fixed it. So realistically its at about 200k. And I autocross her 2x per month =)
