lightly scratched rocker shaft bores; is the head junk?

Hey, when i was pulling my rocker shafts, I slightly marred the rocker shaft with pliers that ate through my "cushion" material, which made some pretty light scratches on the first two rocker shaft bores when removing.

I'm assuming the head is ruined but just wanted to get another opinion on this.

    thank you! :)

If i made what i would consider a very light scratch in the rocker bores, i wouldn't sweat it. Try to knock down the high points of the marred aluminum so the new shaft will slide in smoothly.

        Define "lightly scratched",

to some people that means "It looks like Godzilla took a bite out".

We're assuming it's more like "A butterfly pooped on it and now it's a little rough."

If you are referring to the aluminum towers that the rockers go In And not the rockers themselves, those are not friction surfaces and the shafts don't move. I'd use some fine wetndry so you don't score the shafts when re inserting them and obviously clean up after yourself.

Butterfly poop ? Never seen any in an M20 ;D
