Can a main seal failure cause a vacuum leak? My car is throwing the 1222 code and the mechanic I am working with thinks its the main seal. Please help asap!!

Please help! If the main seal is the problem I am just going to do it myself and not spend 600 for the guy to drop the tranny. I just want to make sure that the main seal can cause a vacuum problem..! Thanks!

If you have a vacuum leak at the rear main, you also are driving the Exxon Valdez.

Otherwise, it's not the rear main.

So should I call the guy out?
My oil pan gasket is a little leaky can that cause a vacuum problem?
Mechanic says he sprayed brake cleaner near the trans and the rpm went up, keep in mind this car has a slush box.

If the rear main fails can that cause loss in pressure in oil pan?

that's quite a job to hunt down a vacuum leak.

have you done a smoke test? are all your hoses in good shape? ICV? AFM? Throttle position sensor? O2 sensor?

A leak at any seal or gasket of the block can result in an intake leak. A properly conducted smoke test will tell if there are any leaks.

A bad front (or rear) main seal is very unlikely to cause an oil pressure problem.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

And its best to smoke the car cold (morning cold, not drive to the shop and leave it for an hour cold).
