Seems to happen when cars get to be 30-ish years old. Still kills me to think I was already driving when a new e30's were still on the lot. Back then i didn't care much for them, obviously with my username, I was much into F-bodies.Comment

It's not fair. You'd think that BMW would use the e30 and older community as a trophy... you know, 'look how good are cars are, they live to be 30 and older' and for that reason CATER to our needs with parts. With all the stuff going NLA it's almost like they're phasing us out on purpose. I mean you want to stop making floor mats because of whatever reason, but we NEED oil pumps.
See wot Im sayin?

M20 Oil Pumps .....
New dashboard numbers are dwindling with rumors that this was the first and last run of updated dashes by BMW
I have strong hope oil pumps will be back though

That is why Apple has started forcing new updates in firmware on people. There is no money in people who refuse to upgrade and use old hardware for 3 years (ie, me), so they upgrade the software to make the old hardware run like crap, forcing consumers to proverbially "upgrade or die".Last edited by JinormusJ; 07-11-2014, 06:14 PM.Comment

Oddly, the 2002 pump didn't go platinum until about 6 or 7 years ago.
I think they're 'cleaning house' on all the old models-
and the M20 was really of the same generation as the m10/m30.
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george gravesComment

Well corporate can stick it because I'd take my e30 over the plastic, tv-in-dash new BMWs.... Old things are better ftw!!!
no but really I guess you guys are right about the dashes and such pieces, but at least I can still drive my car with a cracked dash... busted oil pump, not so much.
I'm writing a letter. :b

I buy from the same channels as they do, there's a number of suppliers who's websites have not caught on yet since largely those sites are auto-tied in with certain wharehouse chains that aren't always forthcoming with true availability.
Always worth a call to see if they've got one on the shelf though, I snagged one sample today that way.Comment

BINGO! All of us who do this for a living order from about 4 major warehouse chains - and most sites are just automated "parts pickers" and have no idea what's in stock or not, whereas we can log directly into those warehouses. I bought the last few rocker shafts, and will be stuck sourcing the next set I need :(I buy from the same channels as they do, there's a number of suppliers who's websites have not caught on yet since largely those sites are auto-tied in with certain wharehouse chains that aren't always forthcoming with true availability.

Are the parts to rebuild the stock pumps easily sourced? I see some places offer rebuild services so I would assume it can't be that difficult to source parts or make them if neededShawn @ Bimmerbuddies
