    Camshaft Bolt Issues

Im taking apart the cylinder head for rebuild and I can't break the camshaft bolt off. The damn torx star stripped off because the bolt it so old. Tomorrow I will head to hardware store a get some turbo sockets to try and break it free.

This bolt isn't reverse threaded is it? Wanted to check here and make sure I'm not wasting my time turning it the wrong way.

    Thanks

Not reversed threaded, righty tighty, lefty losey rule applies. Have you tried an impact driver?

Torx bolts don't strip from being old. It's from people using improper sockets on them.

I took what I believed was the proper size, E14, E12 was too small. Hit it with the impact and it looked like it was going to break free and the the stars just broke off. On other threads E14 was the socket size used.

Looks like you might be able to use a 6pt or a 12pt on it now!

it's an E12, you need to tap in on with a hammer. it stripped bc you used the wrong size.

i've refreshed 13 m20s, done over 20 TB/WP/seals. 1 time I stripped that, and it was bc it was an early model with a femal Torx bolt. You will need a bolt extractor socket set and a new bolt.

come get a bolt from me this weekend. i should have an extra laying around

I got the E12 socket on there with a hammer and I for sure thought it was going to break loose. Impact wouldn't get it out so i used a long ratchet and this happened. I guess that leaves me no choice but to use a screw extractor...hopefully that works.
