    Cam Journal Wear Limits

Hey guys. I recently snapped my timing belt, and the replacement head had oiling issues that U/S'd the cam lobes and rockers. Once they were out, I noticed the cam/journals were very worn. I definitely wouldn't run the cam again, but I'm wondering if there is any chance that the journals are ok to clean out and rebuild the head with a new cam.

I had a machinist recently tell me that as far as cam journal wear goes you should only worry about smoothing any raised areas. Journal 5 needs attention, as you've mentioned.

I think its just extra space for oil to sit.

Yeah, I've gotten the same advice- as long as it's not so loose that it loses oil
pressure, just make sure the damage is recessed, not sticking up, and you should
      be ok.
I've run some pretty ugly journals and had no real issues...
