m20b27 basic performance upgrades

    You mentioned upgraded valve springs but another option to remember is modifying the head to run a 325i cam. Then that's when you'd want to upgrade to the dual springs, and since you already have a 325i manifold you could also have the inlet ports matched to it. Maybe shave the head to bump the compression up, and along with a 1.3 motronic swap you'd wind up with a pretty nice 2.7i with a noticeable power bump without any loss in torque, and the bonus of not having to yank the whole engine out. Just find a cheap head to do all the work on (I've got 2 spares that I can't even give away) and swap it in. Could probably do it all for less than $500?

        the 2.7 swap seems way too much for me at this point. But I will be getting a 325i if I can and will do projects on both when possible, probably gonna try to keep the 325e as much of a DD as possible.

          That's what I'm doing, and I believe I am going to throw a "Tank" in it one day, enter the m30 :). I just like the older stuff lol.

            m30 turbo setup looks way bitchen honestly. That could be something I may do to the 325e one day, smartest move seems to be to get another car, which I am actually pretty stoked about :).
