I decided to change all vacuum related hoses and gaskets on the car this past weekend. Seemed like a good idea on a 25 year old car. During dis-assembly I noticed some shoddy wiring to the fuel injectors (seemed like someone replaced a connector between the injector/water temp harness and main harness with knife connectors - did a poor job) so I decided to replace the connectors that looked bad and re wrap it all.
Assembly went smoothly. All in all I wound up deleting the TB coolant lines, replacing the thermostat housing gasket, intake manifold gaskets, replaced the seals on the injectors, TB gasket, rubber intake boot, and all vacuum hoses. The fuel rail was disconnected duing disassembly and while the injectors were out I sprayed the tips and inlets with brake cleaner to make sure they were free of debris before reassembly (don't think that would hurt them
)
So I turned the key to start the car, cranked for a while (building fuel pressure I assume) and then began to catch, sounded very rough and did not catch/run on its own without me constantly cranking it. After that it sounded like it was getting worse - wasn't catching as much. I let it sit a while and tried again, if I hold the key on engine start for 20 seconds, it slowly sounds like it's catching better and better but will not idle and dies as soon as I turn the key from start to run.
I felt the exhaust manifolds, cylinder 1-3 were cold, cylinder 4-6 were warm.
After I let everything cool off and tried again, cylinder 1-3 were again cold, but this time it seemed like 4-5 were also cold with 6 being the warmest.
I didn't have time to do anymore error checking as it was late Sunday, and pouring rain to add insult to injury. Figured I would post here and get some feedback so when I get a chance to return to it I am not going in blind....
Thanks
