    Rebuild or sell?

Hello, my good friend is having some issues, he had owned a Bmw 76 2002 with an m20 motor in it from a 1991 e30 for a few years now, the car all of sudden started making this almost loose nut sound jumping around in the engine,
. He took the car to a shop that is well known here in the west coast,, the tech said It was the bottom end, possibly a rod, and that its better for him to just get a new engine vs a rebuild as it will possibly cost my friend even more on the rebuild.. The ship has an m20 strocker with zero miles,, asking about 11-12k put in, seems a bit outrages to me, but can anyone shows some light on this, my friend is at the point that he feels he will be better off selling the car,, many thanks in advance.

The shop is ripping your friend off. Nobody is buying NEW M20 engines either...

I can build you a fully done up 3.1L M20 and swap it out for about half of that number.

      Rebuild or sell?

My friend does not need a stroke engine, he would like it back the way it was, something like that costs about how much? Rebuild?

The 12k is for the stroke m20.

Ah, misread the typo as "stocker".

Either way, that's still an inflated price, might want to have your friend get a second opinion.

Just make sure the new engine can pass smog. A stroker M20 in a 2002 will be an awesome car!
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

stop dicking around and just take it to MR325. i was hesitant because i didn't think that would be dropping the coin on a m20, but i did and i am happy with the motor. motor runs like a top and i haven't had a problem with the motor leaving me stranded. its already been 2 years since my motor was fully rebuilt by bimmerheads.
