I don't really know much about the ETAs, but reading this thread (http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...2-7L-super-eta), it looks like you're only partially right. (if you believe everything you read on the internet!) :)

Sounds like while the super eta has an "i" head, it doesn't technically have the "i accoutrements". It appears the super eta head had single valve springs and a less aggressive cam. So there's still work to do to make the long block itself a "2.7i" (not to mention the intake/injector/exhaust/afm/ecu changes).

I have a 325ix motor that ran before it started being removed last year. Right now it is still in the car. PM me for info.

Yeah, the car is kind of a piece of crap but it has the super eta motor. I know it's a 2.7 motor but I'm going to do the full i top end swap with the head, intake, etc off a 325i. Extra bonus is that the 325 is a manual and the 325is I'm putting the motor in is an auto so I'll be doing the auto manual swap also.

Just kind of lucked into this deal. A friend of mine that is a Porsche mechanic and usually works on a lot of high end cars got it from someone that owed him money and he's not into bmw's at all and just wanted to get rid of it. I'll sell off the rest of the parts later once I get what I need and use that to help fund all of this.

An 88 super eta is already a 2.7i. Pretty sweet score for 650$. Post pics of the cars already.

Today I bought a 1988 325 with a running super eta engine for $650 so I will be using the bottom end from this car to build a 2.7I engine to put back in the 325is.

I've heard of these $200-300 M20s, but have never seen one. Seems like $500 is still the going price for a complete M20, which is what I paid at a junkyard. I've saw a few for $400 when I was looking, but nothing local.

Even at $500 though, I'd still fix it if the rest of the car is in good shape. $1500 or less for a decent E30 isn't a bad deal these days.

If you know someone that has a running m20 for $200 to $300, point me in the their direction. They don't seem to be as easy to find as they used to and not for that price.
