Prime the heater with coolant and bleed it with the car elevated.

To bring some closure to this issue, I replaced the thermostat with an 80 C new one, changed the pump to ensure it wasn't an issue, flushed the coolant and purged it with compressed air to blow out any sediment or blockages.

I refilled the system and made sure to fill it with the bleeder open. I filled the expansion tank to the top, then started the car. I kept filling the system until the bleeder was flowing coolant out the top before I closed it. Then I closed the expansion tank to ensure air would not get into the system. I made sure the heater was all the way on hot, and turned the air on full blast and waited for the car to get up to temperature. Then I proceeded to continue bleeding the bleed valve while revving the engine to flow more coolant through the system faster.

Heat started coming and the car now idles and runs great at about 190 F. Bottom line I think I had an air lock in the system that was compressing while the pump was pumping. I am not sure what originally caused the issue, potentially a blockage, but now I know it is no longer blocked and the t-stat is new.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.
