The Car:
1987 325is with the stock motor, 5sp
Issue
About a month ago, I would experience jerking/bucking and my RPM would drop to 0 while moving in gear, and would stall completely(lights such as brake line, ABS would come on) when I went into neutral. The car would also stall sometimes at a red light or a stop sign. As the RPM would drop the economy gauge will increase from 0- ~40, I'm not sure if that has an significance. Just today, the car bucked once and the CEL was a solid RED.
What I've done
-I found oil in the TPS so I cleaned it out along with the ICV, throttle body, CPS and AFM.
-The car ran great for about two weeks until I found a rip in the intake boot, which I replaced and the car ran fine again for another ~2 weeks.
- I've recently replaced the Coolant temp. sensor(blue), fuel pump and ECU main relay.
-I've replaced the spark plugs, and o2 sensor about ~3k miles ago.
-I've only done the carb cleaner vacuum test which yielded no irregularities
HELP
Just looking for your thoughts. Would a vacuum leak cause an irregular idle at all times? My car idles just fine more times than not, nice and steady. I bought a DURALAST coolant temp sensor, could it be a faulty unit?
