    Advice on eta reconstruction

Hi all, i'm new to the forum but not bmws. Ive had my e30 eta for nearly ten years. My motor is currently toast and i'm trying to decide how to proceed. The number six spark plug threads are damaged beyond repair, and the piston has a hole in it. The cylinder walls are undamaged, but i'm not sure how to proceed with fixing it. I don't have a huge budget, so i was considering doing a 2.7i/stroker of some sort, since i already have the eta block. I've read ever bit of documentation about them i can find, but can't make up my mind what combination i should do. Any input is welcome. thanks

You can usually pick up an M20B25 engine between 200 and 500, and you can either just swap that in, or use the head/intake manifold/electronics/etc from that engine and do the 2.7i swap. The 2.7i swap is definitely fun, but I'm unsure of the condition of your block.

My block is good, and i was thinking about doing the 2.7i since my head is toast anyway. I just can't decide what pistons to go for.

You can stick with the ETA pistons if you'd like, or you can go with whatever custom setup you'd like from some place like Ireland Engineering http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/E30-...20pistonf.html

Besides having .2L difference, there are many other differences. I would recommend checking out this thread for more info on the 2.7i swap.

as far as the bare block goes there are some subtle differences but nothing major to sway one way or another. ref the 2nd sticky

I just meant with the bare block itself. If I could find a standard m20b25 I'd just put that in, but they aren't easy to come by where I live. There's about 8 in various junkyards that are pretty much stripped of their engines/ drive train. One even has a m3 e30 but it's an empty shell.
