    M20 rocker arm journal scoring

Hey everyone, been searching around but couldn't find any good answers to my question so decided to post a topic, in the process of rebuilding a new to me 885 head. when I removed the rocker shaft I found the journals are very badly scored but the shaft itself appears to be in good shape,

Wondering if this is even repairable or something to be worried about?

dont worry about it. the aluminum wont scratch the shaft and the shaft doesnt move when it's in.
    Much wow

You may want to clean those journals with fine emery cloth and make sure the shaft is a fairly easy push fit. You don't want to force them

Actually, I'd go the other way- de- burr the ends of the shaft, remove the high
spots, and leave the head alone. The aluminum will deform plenty if it needs to,
and the tighter the fit, the less oil can leak out there. Think knurling.

But either way, it's fine. Cleaning it up won't hurt it, either.

          No sweat on this one.
