    Rocker Arm Shaft Removal

I'm stripping down the motor on a 325ic I have in order to rebuild the head and swap it onto my '86 eta. I got the head off last night and started breaking it down but encountered a lot of resistance when removing the intake rocker arm shaft. It even looks like it's scratching the channel it's being removed from. I paused there in order to get some more info before continuing.

Basically what I want to know is...is that normal? How much resistance should there be? I knocked it far enough to get the first rocker out like instructions dictate, then rotated the cam til all rockers were loose. I watched some videos and it looked like tapping them out was the norm but I was concerned to say the least!

Back off all th eccentrics, remove the rocker retaining clips and try to get all the rockers off the cam so there is virtually no tension. The rocker should be a firm hand push. Be careful, not to crack your rocker towers.

Based on that I'm afraid the end of the shaft may have mushroomed a little bit. Would it hurt it to grind the end down a little bit so it can more freely be removed? Am I looking at replacing the shaft?

its fine to file off any dags so it doesnt score the bore of the head. just clean any shavings etc afterwards

I've had some that have put up some resistance. Your head could be warped. Any overheating issues?
