    Need opinion

I'm in the middle of my 5 speed swap and I would like an opinion about my rear main. Now I know I should replace while I am in there, but does this look like it's leaking at all? I know it's oil pan for sure. I had a pretty bad valve cover and cam seal leak that I fixed so I'm thinking that a lot of it is residual running that ran back. Haven't seen much of an oil leak since.

So, long story short, you guys think this is contributing to my seeping/leaking?

    Thanks guys

I just did a swap on my barn find which has 126k and I did the rms and pan. They can easily go 2-300k without leaking but it's such a huge pain to get back in there, it only added an hour to the job and I had the parts.

Do you feel lucky ? :)

Make sure you get an oem one because the one on your car is probably oem and it lasted that long so spend the extra money it's worth it. BMW knows what they are doing better than victor reinz

If it leaks I agree with staysidedways. While swapping the tranny I replaced mine about a year ago. With a 240K miles engine I now decided to rebuilt it and will be replacing that seal again. It wasn't leaking back then, I should had left the original seal and save the money.

I only go to the stealer for my seals, o rings, anything that will go bad within a year with other brands. I just did a oilpan gasket and I pulled the oem factory one off the car. I am more than happy to pay e30 tax at the dealer for my genuine parts.

The dealers near my area are pretty good at having e30 parts in stock. I recently walked in and bought 2 oil pump drive shaft stoppers. They had them in stock!!!!
