Piston Ring Gap to Block Orientation

My machinist told me to check with the engine specs on what direction/orientation the ring gaps should be in relation to the block itself. Does anyone know what this should be. I know the manual says to keep the ring gaps offset from each other by 120 degrees, but I couldn't find where its says which ring gap should be facing to the front/back/side of the block.

    Thanks

standard orientation should work. Rings will move with the stroke though if cylinder hone is done properly, basically the orientation is just a reference point.
