M20 Exhaust manifold gaskets.

Hey guys as im finishing my swap and trying to get my exhaust all connected back up on my 91 m20. I've noticed that the gaskets just dont fit..Ive tried different ones and same thing. Its also weird because everything is stock as of heads and such. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this. Also do you think my exhaust would leak it I bore just a little off the metal gasket to make it fit the three prongs.

so you are talking about the downstem side of the exhaust manifold? I was reading threads before doing my engine and saw another guy report poor fitment on these exact gaskets. He then went with genuine BMW and had no issues. I believe they are $17 a pop for genuine bmw.

If you are talking about the manifold to down pipe triangle gaskets I've had the same problem with Reinz. Grabbed a couple of Elrings and problem solved.

I did try to drill the Reinz to open the hole but it's a layered gasket somthe drill just mangled it.

They don't fit quite right, never have. Nor does the VR head gasket fit over the alignment dowel on the block (they have to be drilled/cut larger). I still use the triangle gaskets though, just put a deep socket over the stud and tap it down - never had a leak.
