If you pulled that up by your VIN it would seem that your car did not come with one. Is this for the 87 Cabrio
Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. Email John or Garrett at ninestitch1@gmail.com

look at your starter. If back bolts on the starter housing are a hex head (not studs), your starter doesn't have that mounting bracket

Hmm, thanks folks. ive never heard of this one before.
        Car is Not the cabrio.
its an 86 325e block, with the i head swap done. who knows where the starter is from. it looks real new and shiny so i assume it was swapped around too.

I'll peer into it some more when i get a chance.. The bracket is there. bolted to the starter, and that bolt looks like it used to be there, but i guess maybe not.
Im not sure what kind of bolts are bolting it in on the other side.

when i looked on realoem, i looked at an eta, and an i, as far as diagrams, and neither had it.

        thanks for the help.

Some starters have shorter housing and the bracket (if used) doesn't line up with the hole on the block. If it lines up, M10x16 hex bolt will do the trick.

all of my 325e cars have that bracket, 86 and 87.

I know, I just pulled the starter on two of them :/

interestingly enough, the starter is mounted with studs.
but, also, the bracket is there and seems to line up with the bolt hole. maybe ill look for and throw in a bolt just for shits n giggles.

thanks for the help. what an odd change of mounting style.

Looks like on later models there was no bracket.

My '90 e30 has this type of starter. As you can see, back of the housing has hex head bolts without any studs for the bracket mounting
