    Remus VS Magnaflow?

    Hi guys,

I'm debating whether to go with a Remus or Magnaflow muffler for my 1990 325i e30. (My car is all stock-muffler/headers/piping...etc)

I have a friend who is selling me a used Remus WILD Label (great condition-with resonator), and I've heard these are really nice. Link below:

I'm also considering the magnaflow 14815 that so many e30 owners opt for...this one i would be getting new on ebay:

My question is, from your experience...which one has the deeper tone? I'm not really looking for a loud noise, just something that sounds deep. Thanks!

Have you considered Vibrant? The 1148 (dual tip) streetpower muffler has a real deep tone on the m20b25 and it’s pretty cheap. Amazon or eBay can drop it at your door for less than $130.

https://flic.kr/p/sRfeFG Don’t mind the smoke...rings were bad at the time of the video. Also the mic on the iPhone makes it sounds raspy. It’s really not raspy at all. The tone was mellow at partial throttle and a screamer at WOT.

Sounds great! Whats your complete exhaust setup? I believe I saw a vibrant ultra quiet resonator in a previous picture.

I absolutely love the sound of my remus. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thanks guys. The complete set up is comprised of Ireland Engineering long-tube race headers merged 3in back into a single 2.5in pipe going into two 1141 Vibrant resonators stacked one right after the other then all the way back to an 1148 street power Vibrant muffler.

It doesn’t hang too low even with the fat resonators. The car is much lower now and i rarely scrape, if ever.

Here’s some in car footage of the sound while cruising up chukanut drive in WA State.

Awesome, I'm working on a similar setup for my car, I may have to get that 1148 muffler too. Thanks for the pics and video as well, looks like some fun roads!

IE Race headers - $510 (uncoated)
                    Vibrant 1141 resonators - $90 (x2)
                    Vibrant 1148 streetpower muffler - $130

$810 for the components alone and if I remember correctly about $500 for custom exhaust work. He had to bend up some pipes and really made everything fit perfectly.

So $1300 give or take all said and done.

Thanks! The 1141 resonators plus the 1148 muffler really did the trick. Those plus the IE long tubes. The roads where I used to live in WA were fucking fantastic. After a hard days work I’d blast up and back to relieve some stress. ;)
