M20 No start help!

My (formerly) trusty 325e (head swap motronic 1.3) is currently not starting and I am looking for some pointers on where to go next. Battery is freshly charged, and I can hear the fuel pump whine; when I turn the key I get nothing at all, not a sound from the engine. If I bridge pins 11 and 14 of the diagnostic plug I get one single solitary thunk; it's pretty faint, not like the clicking of a solenoid when your battery is almost dead. Any idea what to check next?

Fuel, spark, air, compression.

You need all 4 of them for it to run. Which one are you missing?

if the starter clicks but won't turn over even when you bridge the connections and your battery is charged, it's either your solenoid or the starter motor itself.

Long shot, but when fiddling with wires to look for loose connections around the starter at one point the blower turned on by itself and now won't come on at all. Any related wiring or relays?
