    e30 m20 questions

Alright I got r3v link from a guy on azbmw.org...so heres a repost of my question

okay, i have my eta's engine half way taken apart and have a few questions... What parts do I need to make a stroker motor? I do know( I think I know) I need a "i" camshaft, probably need a larger maf (a 3.5?), injectors (19 lbs?), and an "i" ecu/chip upgrade...Am I wrong or anything else?

Is there a difference between "i" and "e" throttle bodies and intake manifolds?

    "i" head/valves needed?

    anything else?

Any suggestions/pointers/additional help is always welcomed....

    -Chris

to do a stroker you need a crank with a bigger stroke.

You're already on your way to building what most people would call an M20 stroker, since you've got an eta crank. If you wanted a stroker eta, you would need a different crank, yes.

The i head breathes better, as does the i intake manifold.

basically you'll want everything off the i from the head all the way to the airbox. this includes the ECU (if you're sticking to motronic) and the engine harness.

as far as the bottom end, you can use the stock eta pistons and rods, but unless you are going to turbo the compression ratio will be too low. you can get custom forged pistons for around $600-$900, and use either i or e rods (the e rods are shorter, I'd prefer the i rods personally).

        also, E30s don't have MAFs.. :p
