Can you pull the tranny out without pulling the motor out?

im going to be changing the transmission from a automatic to manual transmission. and i was wondering if its easier to pull the whole motor out or is it possible to just pull out the transmission?

With the right tools you can leave the motor in the car. If you're limited on things, it might make it easier for you to pull it all out, do a once over on everything.

Only special thing you need is a long assed extension to get to the bolts by going over the trans .

And the ability to hold a 17mm wrench on the starter nuts while you get to the bolts with the extension .

Yes, it is possible to drop the tranny without pulling the motor. I've done it a few times.

I'm just going to add :

If you have to ask if the trans can be dropped without removing the engine then maybe you don't have hte skills to be performing a auto-manual swap .

                OK then .

You should read up on the 5-spd swap threads and then you should know what is involved before jumping into it .

Then ask questions if you run into a problem but don't expect people to walk you through the swap .

Tell us what year the donor car and recipient cars are .
