HELP!!! Random sputtering
My car seems to do it worse when its warmed up and in full throttle. I have no idea what is wrong. plug wires are good, afm... i believe is good. i think maybe crank senser maybe i dunno. i changed plug wires and all that jazz. i still think its the afm or something... i hate that thing. next thing im buying is megasquirt. most the time it gets worse on the highway. looks like my car is going on and off... on and off. its shittty. i put a fuel pump in it lately. i guess really i need to find if its spark or fuel causing the problem. most the time its goes away. but lately its does it about every time i drive it.

Try the easiest thing first,put another good working Afm. Mine did the same thing,it would sputter and fuss at high rpm's.I swapped the afm and now it runs fine.sigpic

i did that. runs till it gets warm. then it acts retarded. last night on the high way it just decided to stop working period.... fuel pump isn't kicking on. checked relays.... i guess maybe..... just maybe.... i dunno... but the fuel pump would get warmed and maybe hot and start cutting out... and last night it just couldn't take anymore. im gunna see if im getting 12v back there on start up.. if not egh.... if so i got a spare pump. I allways run my tank on like 1/2 to empty most the time. so pumps are usually cooled by the gas... that could of made it go out also... And ive always though if a pump is going to go out... it goes out, no questions asked.Comment

When your fuel pump cuts out,check to see if you have spark.If no spark aswell,it probably is the crank sensor.If you do have spark,I say the fuel pump is being a bitch.sigpic

i still need to check for spark... i just kinda assumed that there was. I did have a crank sensor problem, i replaced it with a old used one. DOH!
I put in different ecu and no luck. im definitely getting no power to the fuel pump...
well im gunna check for spark. see how that goes... thanks for the info

i dont understand.... i just went out side to test spark... took my plug out touched it against the head and cranked it over and it started......
i was like duhhhh.. and collapsed... I had no idea wtf is going on...
i do believe the cps is rubbing against the fan and maybe shorting out on something. the way it is routed is a pita. im thinking of putting a new one in and running it with the inductive pick up to the connectors.Comment
