    super charger

i talked to a guy on here that said he had a 3.8liter supercharger off a thunder bird, and im wondering is this a common mod i think i can make it work, i was wondering will this decrease the life of my engine, not worried about how hard it is im wondering about how much power it wiil add.

im 16 cant afford a turbo so dont suggest it, im kinda pissed i just got beat by a prelude, im also on a budget

Beat up on by a Prelude, huh?

    Straight line or corners?

Corners = you suck, learn to drive
Straight line = your car sucks in a straight line, get over it.

Drag racing a BMW is like taking a hooker fishing. It might be fun, but that is not what you bought her for.

Buy a Mark D chip, it will help.

Stick with making your Falcon faster. If someone wants to race you in your e30, just laugh at them and let them go.

e30tech.com has a sub-forum on supercharging. Search there if you're serious. It can be much cheaper than turbocharging but requires more custom fabrication. I believe the ford thunderbird SC is a fairly common choice.

To put a supercharger off of a T-bird will require you to loose your power steering pump with lots of custom fab work to mount the charger. It will also require a stand alone engine managment system like mega squirt to tune the engine. Also front mounting a intercooler is tricky but can be done as well. All in all in will cost you in the neighborhood of easily $1000+ and honestly since you have a eta car you really need to do the i head swap stuff to help you as much as possible.

One thing to remember is being on a BUDGET never coincides with CUSTOM WORK... NEVER !!!!

Luke is right ^ and on a budget, if you want a little more in a straight line once you learn to drive, you can always throw a 50 shot of nitrous on to help out but be prepared to do motor work on your 200k motor soon after.

Ya you'll either have to loose power steering or AC. You could probably get around not loosing either, but then it would require removal of the supercharger to do any other engine work.
I've got an eaton m62 blower on my m20 and absolutely love it, I only spent about $700-$800 for my setup, but that was just in the charger etc.. I already had megasquirt and all that on the car.

What you need is a higher rev-limit!

If you up grade to 1.3 Motronic with a 173ecu you will be at 6300rpm then with a chip 7000+

                Here is a how to.

Well I think it is safe to say that the cold air and exhaust are what won the race for him. Do you have a CAI and exhaust?

Seriously, you need an I head. I would never run forced induction on an eta motor, because stock, they just suck. They dont rev high, have a heavy flywheel, and a bad rear gear. An I head and better rear end will make all the difference in the world. Do that first.

I just got back from warming up my eta sedan (gets driven once every couple weeks) and then I drove the M3. The eta seems so pathetic right now..

                    my car

no ive looked at the kits for them for e30s but there kinda pricey, thinking about taking the head light out and i have some tubes laying around to make a homemade cold air intake
