There'll be PLENTY of pics. The car belongs to my apprentice in the shop. Zinno 87 is on Ronal LS. We've rebuilt the head, stock bottom end, and Adam has spent mucho time on detailing the engine before install. His choice of powdercoat colour is an "interesting" one, but it should look smart, and be fun.

Haha, it's my old ride. Sold it to a member on bclassics, just haven't updated my sig here yet. How goes the engine build? Looks like there's a couple people cooking up some motors in Vancouver, heh.

Yeah, the motor build is getting there. Bought a set of Hartge long tube headers, Schrick 284/272 cam, ported and polished head, ported and polished intake, hiflo injectors, big bore throttle body, adj fpr.

Everything came as a package and I think the cam is going to be too aggressive for aircare, hence my posts about other peoples mods on the m20. I was going to get a schrick 272 in the first place but it seems that people are having trouble passing emissions even with that!

Next on the list is a ring job + whatever else is needed on the seta block. It supposedly had 98,000mi and by looking at it I would agree, but since it is out I might as well rip it apart and check everything to be sure it'll last 300,000km's. I might even shave it a few thou to bump up the compression but I am undetermined if it is a good thing or not.

Last on the list is to lighten the flywheel but I am not having much luck with anyone locally :hitler:. I might just set it up on the lathe and do it myself as I have a few pictures I can use as reference.

See ya around at a meet in the spring sometime.

I don't think the dual pattern cam should be too agressive - it should still idle pretty well, at least my M20 did when it was stock. schrick cams are pretty much street cams anyway, even the 288 and 304 aren't super agressive.

                      Hey nando,

I'm going to go to Belligham to pick up my headers. Any chance you could give me a ride in your car to see how it runs with your setup? From what I understand it is going to be similar to what I am going to build, pm me off line if this is possible. Thanks.

I haven't seen his motor, but from what I've heard, "I'm lovin' it!". ;)

Al, lets see some pics of your 325is with the Racing Dynamics wheels.

i went through the same dillema as you... stroker m20?...m30swap?...m50swap? i absolutey love peroid correct bmws with tatseful mods...but ive got to ride in all three and actually have done two(stroker,m50). the m30 was only slighty better than the stroker m20(2.9with i head). but not enough to justify doing it, plus the m30 swap leaves the car kinda chopped up. after riding in the m50 e30 i immeadiately got all the parts together and did that swap. its by far the best and is the way the e30 should have come. good mpg good all around power smooth. easliy upgraded. and when its over the engine bay looks clean as shit. if the m50 isnt an option the stroke out an m20. its the most straight foward of the three and everything will go back where it belongs using all factory parts and locations. the only bitch is custom pistons. wiseco is the cheapest, metric mechanics are the best and most thought out but also the most expensive.
