Does anyone know any specs on how much shaving on an i piston is needed to achieve a head-clearing height/decent compression. The more info the better. It seems like i've heard '3mm' before.

i dont know but I have a set of brand new Mahle 10.2:1 pistons for a stroker. $500, comes with rings, and I'll even throw in the set of "i" rods for free. all you need is a 2.7 crank and an "i" head and it's good to go. or I also have an "i" crank I'd sell for $60 along with itOriginally posted by bluntcan you get me a deal on cases of their (fiji) bottled water? i wash my 02 in that shit

if you use eta crank, I rod and I piston then 3mm is the nominal amount to remove. If you use the same but E rod you need 2mm extra. Its a waste of time machining the pistons IMO. Find your self a single vanos M52b28 crank, E rods and I pistons and your good to go.89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

ive said it before when i actually measured a set of pistons and worked out the math. The 3mm is a load of bollocks, you need to reduce compression height by 3mm, however that figure doesnt factor in the 4.43mm crown sitting above the piston too. If you shave 3mm off your pistons what you end up with is most of the crown gone and a piston still sitting above the block.
