    ETA Problems

My GF '84 325e has a recurring issue with stalling. I had not seen it first hand until today.

Today i took it to take a look/get a feel for the issue.

From a stop it took off fine, acted as if i let off the gas then went again, churping the wheels. Acted fine after that.

Once i was on the freeway, crusing was not an issue. Got up to speed fine, decelerated, accelerated, whatever. After going for about 5 minutes at 70mph it just turned off. No bucking, no noises. I tried to bump start it while coasting along but i had to use the key to start it. After that, no issues until i got it in the garage.

Checked the temp sensors, flywheel sensors, MAF, ICV, TPS, fuel pump connection. It all looks fine.

I have an older ETA ECU [0 261 200 007] that im going to swap in for a trial run.

Nothing makes sense. Any direction to take?

Ive had this problem to. Made me so mad. It eventually stopped. I noticed it did it more when it was hotter and if i used the ac more... I checked the relays and swapped them and everything...

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

From what she has told me.

It acts up the most when its cold. And it does it a LOT when its wet out.

Ive checked and cleaned up many of the connections already, but it didnt seem to help.

Watch out for your fuel pump. See if it runs noisy (engine off) then you can try volume or pressure tests... Also keep in mind, the engine will not run without a signal from the crank ref sensor.
