    Oil Cooler Delete?

How many of you are running no oil cooler on your car? I know the e34 m20 doesnt have them, nor the eta, but just exactly how many of you guys are running without on your m20?

Why would you want to run without one?

just because, not really looking for all the people that track thier car to tell me about all the reason of why and why not.

      #1 reason - cause I want to
#2 reason - because there is other m20 that doesnt have them, I always want less stuff on my car, period.

I'm not trying to be an ass, just dont want opinions from people taht are gunho and hardcore about tracking thier car etc. Its my daily drive and I want to explore the option of taking as much off the car as possible.

Thats like taking out your radiator because you never drive far enough for your car to warm up.

I think you can just loop the lines. it leave a bit of a mess in the engine bay because you have this hose lying around but it would work...

lets see - should I listen to the BMW engineers who had millions of dollars and a couple decades to design the engine and cooling system, or some backyard hick who thinks just because he doesn't track his car, that he doesn't need the extra cooling?

and if you aren't tracking your car, why are you so worried about weight? I don't think BMW intended the E30 to be a track rat, so what makes you think the oil cooler isn't neccesary on the street?

                    reasons not to-
                    extra oil capacity
                    cooler running oil
engine longevity (related to both of the above)

                    reasons to-
save ~5lbs of weight so you can beat hondas light to light?
stroke your ego because you're so cool your oil doesn't need the extra help? (hah!)

                      Weight reduction == more MPG?

I think the only M20s that DIDNT come with the oil cooler were etas. They kind of dont see the same "abuse" as the "i" models due to lower red lines. *shrugs*

You'd be surprised at how hardcore some ppl are with weight reduction. Every little bit adds up. Shit I cut out wiring I didn't use and it wound up being almost 5lbs. That 5lbs less over the thousands of miles you drive adds up to that much less gas you use. If you are THAT hard core about saving every last bit of weight, it's actually worth it...
