Car ran, Fuel Filter Replaced, But no Fuel going to filter now.

Hello Everyone. Prior to the replacement of my fuel filter, my 1989 325i. started and ran. Key word ran. I took the fuse out, while the motor was running, let the car die and replaced the fuel filter. I put the fuse back in its place, went to start the car, and nothing for about 10 cranks. I disconnect one of the hoses from the fuel filter and then crank and no fuel is coming out of the filter regardless. Im lost as to how I should go about this as ive tried different fuses, fuel pump relays, etc. What confuses me is the pump worked prior to replacement of fuel filter, as I had previously mentioned that the car ran with the old filter. Could I have tightened the hose clamp too hard? Any input will help immensely. Thanks.

Filters are directional. Did you check the direction?

    Aren't any hoses pinched?
