Yeah, what brand headers and what paint did you use on your valve cover?

Same here. I am going to install my powder coated valve cover and want that nice hardware!

that's a great idea if you want to strip the threads in the head and have them come loose all the time.

          stick with studs.

as far as acorn nuts, I just ordered standard nuts for an M20 and that's what they sent me.

I just ordered the chrome M6X1.0 part #10651. Thread depth is 7.4-8.2mm, plenty of room to tighten down w/o bottoming.

How much were they? I am just too lazy to register just to get a quote. I have stuff to order from pelican anyways though.

Studs >> bolts. Especially since you pull the cover every few thousand miles to set valves, right? Then again, I like helicoils in aluminum, too.

I'm also a big fan of stainless hardware on external engine stuff. Though washing an engine should be reserved for EXTREME circumstances, rain happens, and it's nice when threads don't rust inside whatever they're screwed into. You won't even know until you take it apart...

They were like .86 each. (If I end up going with the stainless, I'll sell you eight of mine.)

The S14 engine uses chrome acorn nuts on the vc, I don't hose down my engine compartment and there's this new stuff all the kids are using called Never-Seize.

Actually, I was trying to decide between the chrome and stainless and may switch if I don't like the chrome once installed, but I think the engine photo looks good. Maybe not the yellow block though...

Never-seize, huh? I'll have to give that a try.

I also HATE chrome, anywhere, anytime, on anything just on general principle. I'm contemplating making a billet stainless sunroof crank on said grounds. Besides, has anyone ever been to a chrome shop? Truly nasty chemicals...

Finally got around to this today, the M6x1.0 acorn nuts I have aren't deep enough. Should I just make up the space with a few washers?

Are you using the Lawson Products acorn nuts? If so, all I used was a single flat washer to protect my texture painted cover when removing/installing it and they fit fine.
