Studs >> bolts. Especially since you pull the cover every few thousand miles to set valves, right? Then again, I like helicoils in aluminum, too.
I'm also a big fan of stainless hardware on external engine stuff. Though washing an engine should be reserved for EXTREME circumstances, rain happens, and it's nice when threads don't rust inside whatever they're screwed into. You won't even know until you take it apart...sigpic

Actually, I was trying to decide between the chrome and stainless and may switch if I don't like the chrome once installed, but I think the engine photo looks good. Maybe not the yellow block though...

I also HATE chrome, anywhere, anytime, on anything just on general principle. I'm contemplating making a billet stainless sunroof crank on said grounds. Besides, has anyone ever been to a chrome shop? Truly nasty chemicals...sigpic
