    How steady is your idle?

Is it rock solid, or does it wonder a bit? I am going to switch the ECU tomorrow and try another ICV. Hopefully it's one of those two, as I don't have another AFM or TPS...

Cool. I am on my 2nd full tank of gas and told myself I'll drive like a grandpa.... keeping it under 3k rpm or trying.

Jean, drive slowly as you look for moving boxes. that will keep it under 3K...

This. Ran pretty smooth at about 800 rpm IIRC.

Mine is pretty solid, but sometimes it wonders up/down about 50 rpms. Maybe ICV needs cleaning....tomorrow.

I know I have an M20 but the idle systems between M30s and M20s are the same (even M50s). it's smooth at 900rpm with MS2 controlling the PWM valve though. the worst my car ever idled was when it was 100% stock with a vacuum leak.

Gotcha. I don't think there is vacuum leak anywhere as pretty much everything is new, but the ICV / AFM are used. I don't think lack of airbox would affect the idle, what do you think?

                        no it shouldn't

cleaning the ICV is pretty easy. carb cleaner works fine.

make sure everything is tight of course.

Cleaned the ICV and adjusted TPS on the TB and that fixed it :)

Bad news is my A/C Fan quit working...both relays are clicking but fan won't spin at low or high speed. Didn't have correct relays on hand so I'll replace them first before putting another fan in...

I really should look into SPAL fan...

bad low speed resistor? but neither speed works now. probably a dead fan.

these fans are pretty old, not surprised when they stop working, especially since they go unused 90% of the time. Mine worked as the only cooling fan until I smashed it, but it was loud, balky and drew a lot of power. a new 16" fan is a good upgrade.

I have a spare from my 89, it's got different shaped blades so maybe it's a little bit quiter until I save up for a new SPAL fan. What fan did you get? How many CFM and how quite is it compared to the a/c fan?
