Yep. I think 3.25 or 3.46 is the most ideal. Not tall and not short. I tried 3.73, then 3.25 and settled on 3.46 myself.
Now if you do a lot of long distance/freeway driving 2.93 might be just right for you..and so on.

2.93 might be too tall for most people unless you have a turbo. On the other had I have a 3.73 LS and it's a bit too short. I can easily start out in second gear, and often do.

Hey everyone i started my swap about to weeks ago nd i could tell u one thing it really is a PITA to do but also fun:D The motor is from a 91 535i auto nd is going into an 87 3 series.
