      As the last 2 posts point out, I in fact did not need to remove the crank bolt to remove the harmonic balancer. I remember trying to remove it with my hands after taking out the 8 bolts that hold it along with a pulley in position and it wouldn't move. So I assumed I needed to take off that big bolt instead of just pry off harmonic balancer with something more than my hands. Definitely a noob mistake that most likely won't be my last during this engine swap process. Thanks for all the replys/solutions to my make believe problem!

        A couple screw drivers, one on each side and rock it back and forth should walk it off.

        Is this going back on a M30?

          Yeah, this is going on either a B34M30, M90 or hybrid of the 2. I won't know what I'm going to do until I get inside both of the motors. The plan is then to put it in my 325e. Then sometime down the road turbo it.
