    Valve train noise - be gone?

    When I replaced the head gasket on the M30 I bought a replacement head from Bavarian Auto Recyclers. After installing the head onto the motor, I proceeded to adjust the rocker arm clearance per the Bentley manual (which is straight from the factory BMW manual FYI). Imagine my surprise when I...

    It's a must for the m30 owner.
    About 3 years ago I started doing this and WOOOOWW it eliminated
    all valve tick. If you guys don't know about this go do it ASAP.

    Just adjust at the CAM to .008 or 9.
    Leave the sowing machine sound to the m20s ;)

        So are you saying that M20s sound like sewing machines no matter what?

          my m20 sounds smooth with no ticking after a proper valve adjustment from an actual e30 specialist (aka Ryan G). I'll take a video later to prove it

            No, just buy the parts that wear so you can get good measurements again.
            or adjust at the cam like allot of m30 guys do.:borg:

              please do. I'd love to shut mine up without burning valves. Post some cam side clearances?

                    I just bled the system since I forgot to and that fixed it, I'd completely forgotten you need to do that, haha.

                      Need some help just did a valve adjustment completely wrong (misread some info), now car has rough idle, could I just redo the valve adjustment the proper way or is there another step I need to take

                          I didnt adjust the valves per cylinder, I just jumped around everyone I seen a lobe down

                            You can do that, but you have to turn the engine at the very least twice. I used a sharpie to mark the properly adjusted rockers.

                              must of adjusted them too tight then, went with the .008 feeler gauge on a rebuilt head
